Jared The Subway Guy: “Yes, I Watch Child Porn”

jared-subway-child-pornIf you thought Jared the Subway Guy’s fetish was something food-related, maybe a sandwich based sort of thing, think again. It’s child porn. For sure now. Just this morning, the 15-year spokesman for Subway Jared Fogle officially admitted that he has owned, created, and watched child porn as well as successfully pursued sexual engagements with minors. I think we can safely say that we will no longer see him in sandwich commercials, no matter how much weight he loses.

The Documents Say It All

The prosecution in this case against Fogle has accumulated a vast, vast mountain of evidence against him. He kind of had to admit his actions because – damn – it’s super obvious that they happened.

It all started in July, when Jared the Subway Guy’s Indiana home was raided by the Feds. Did they find stuff? Uh, yes. But why did they raid his house in the first place? Well, turns out they got a lead when they took the head of Fogle’s charity, Russell Taylor, into custody two months before the raid. At the time, Fogle responded with a statement that, in colloquial terms, said something like, “What! No way! No way I’m hanging out with THAT guy anymore.” Little too late for that.

Aside from simply owning and watching child porn, much of which was produced by Taylor, Fogle also actively engaged in sexual acts with minors on his own. His efforts, allegedly, spanned from 2007 to June of this year. I’ll narrow down the highlights:

  1. Fogle paid an underage girl for sexual stuff while at a hotel in NYC, fully aware of her age. This happened around late 2012 – 2013.
  2. Fogle requested references for other minor children from the same girl. He is reported to have used the words, “the younger the girl, the better.”
  3. Fogle continued his search over these next couple of years, looking for “access to minors as young as 14 to 15 years.” He’d ask escorts about it after engaging in sexual stuff (making sure they weren’t cops).
  4. And, of course, there’s all the explicit media he received from Russell Taylor. Some of the children in these pictures and videos were secretly filmed with hidden cameras in Taylor’s own living complexes. There were 13 and 14 year olds, and at least one example of children outside the U.S. who were as young as 6.

Jared the Subway Guy says he’ll pay for it all: $1.4 million to 14 underage victims, divided equally. And he’s going to be a registered sex offender, naturally. The prison sentencing should be interesting – these kinds of crimes are worth 20-30 years in prison, but apparently there’s an agreement between Fogle and the government maintaining that he can’t request less than 5 years in prison and they can’t make him do more than 12.

For those who were wondering – yes, Subway has severed its ties with ole’ Jared. Personally, I bet they’re also going to confiscate his black card. Not that there were going to be Subways in prison anyways.

Child Pornography in Tennessee

Just like, you know, everywhere in the U.S., child pornography is super illegal in Tennessee. Surprise, surprise. If Fogle was tried in this state, he could be looking at a charge for each individual photo, video, drawing, or even artistic representation that he possessed that “simulated sexual activity that is patently offensive.” I’m sure it’s similar wherever he’s being tried. But the takeaway here is, IT’S NOT WORTH IT. Not in Tennessee, not in Fogle’s home state of Indiana, not anywhere.
